Aaahhh. A four day weekend. Isn’t it heavenly? Such a fabulous opportunity to get out of town for a few days without using any annual leave. With the year already whooshing past at a terrifying speed, I can’t wait for the Easter extra-long weekend. Often we visit family in Melbourne at this time of year, but it’s time for something new.
This weekend will find us soaking up the beauty of the South Coast of NSW (about 3 hours south of Sydney). Well, in between the rain anyway. It’s forecast to be a bit damp up here, especially in Jervis Bay where we’re heading.
This is our first visit and we’re staying right by the water, so I’m hoping to spend lots of time at the beach. It won’t be warm enough to swim, but I think it looks perfect for long walks while the kids run around exploring and splashing. There’s likely to be sand-castle building and cartwheels, fish and chips on the sand and perhaps even a very early morning to watch the sunrise over the water. Bliss.

What to pack for Easter long weekend
Where are you headed?
Are you Eastering out of Melbourne? In Sydney the popular thing is to go either north or south along the coast. In Melbourne it’s east or west isn’t it? Maybe Flinders, Phillip Island or Sorrento? Or will it be Point Lonsdale, Barwon Heads or Torquay? I’m particularly fond of going inland in Victoria following our trips to Beechworth and Ballarat earlier this year. But we’re Sydney-siders now, so we’ll keep exploring our new backyard up here.
Weather forecast
At the moment the weather in Melbourne over Easter is forecast to be 20-24° during the day and 13-17° at night. So, given the mornings will be a bit fresh, I’ve gone with layers that can be peeled off as the sun does its thing later in the day.
What to pack
If your week looks anything like mine, you will spend it rushing around trying to get a million things done before the school holidays start, not wondering what to pack for Easter. So this travel wardrobe is designed to be easily picked up at your local shopping centre while doing your Easter egg shopping. I’ve given the online-only shops a miss and stuck to the high street chains that are readily available to most.
1 French Connection Heart tee
2 Seed Sequin panel tee
3 Country Road Woven spliced tshirt
4 French Connection Kiko Stitched dress
5 Forever New Tamara scarf
6 Seed Adele sunglasses
7 Sussan Lift and shape jeans
8 Sussan Seamed ponte leggings
9 French Connection Lucky cat knit
10 Nine West Speak up flats
11 Katies Zip detail biker jacket
12 Witchery Piper ankle boot
And when you’ve finished packing for Easter and are wondering if you’ve got everything, you might want to throw in a parka. Could be useful if you find yourself taking a long walk along a beach too.
For an alternative travel wardrobe there is also a Sydney edition of this post – What to pack for the Easter long weekend – the Sydney edition.
Will you be getting away this weekend?
