With Victoria already immersed in the school holiday break and NSW in our last week of term, perhaps you’re about to head away somewhere exotic for a week or two. But if the annual leave is not stretching to that much time off, the Easter extra-long weekend is a great opportunity to get out of town.
Our plans
We are very fortunate to be borrowing a friend’s holiday house in Jervis Bay this weekend. Earlier in the year when I was writing this round-up of summer holiday ideas, I read a gorgeous post from Maxabella called Summer Sunshine. Her beautiful photos took my breath away and had me adding Hyams Beach on Jervis Bay (South Coast region – about 3 hours south of Sydney) to my travel wishlist. Well I must have sent that message out into the universe, because a little while back this holiday house opportunity came up.
So, after 11 years in Sydney we will finally venture further south than Kiama!
What to pack for Easter long weekend
Weather forecast
Currently the weather in Sydney over Easter is forecast to be 24-25°c during the day and 16-18°c at night. The forecast is for mostly fine weather, so let’s hope that comes true!
Given it should be over 20° from about 9am until about 6pm, a dress or two and jeans and a couple of t-shirts would probably do it. A cardigan or jacket (or both!) will be needed early and late in the day.
But I love packing for a long weekend, because, although you don’t really need very much, you can probably fit a few extra outfits in to give yourself plenty of choice.
What to pack
If your week looks anything like mine, you will spend it rushing around trying to get a million things done before the school holidays start, not wondering what to pack for Easter. So this travel wardrobe is designed to be easily picked up at your local shopping centre while doing your Easter egg shopping. I’ve given the online-only shops a miss and stuck to the high street chains that are readily available to most.

1 Sussan tee
2 French Connection Bunny tee. All those little black things are bunnies. How cute is that!
3 Country Road Block stripe midi dress.
4 Sussan Chambray dress. Both dresses chosen for their abilities to hide excess Easter egg consumption!
5 Seed Olivia sunglasses
6 Katies Tencel soft pant
7 Seed Blue wash jean
8 Sussan Utility shirt
9 Seed Serena high-tops
10 Seed Amber sneakers
11 Country Road Pocket detail parka. Alannah has always wanted to see the sunrise and the beach faces east, so it’s as good an opportunity as any. But I might need this!
And when you’ve finished packing for Easter and are wondering if you’ve got everything, you might want to throw in some thongs. They always come in handy in Sydney.
For an alternative travel wardrobe there is also a Melbourne edition of this post – What to pack for the Easter long weekend – the Melbourne edition.
