As you stand in front of your wardrobe deciding what to pack for your holiday, are there some reliable favourites that you always reach for? Perhaps jeans? Anything black? And if you’ll be sitting on a plane for awhile, chances are there’s plenty of stretchy numbers in your holiday wardrobe.
But if you’ve got the basics down pat, squeeze a few items into your suitcase that are there because you love them. Because they make you feel a bit different to every other tourist.
Start everyday of your holidays in an outfit that feels fresh to you. That makes you look in the mirror and smile.
1. A white shirt doesn’t have to be boring
There’s no need to fuss with irons when you’re on holiday, but find an iron-free shirt and you have the start of a simple yet stylish outfit.
Choose one with an interesting detail, like this one with a cool black necktie. You can wear it with or without the tie, the shirt is long enough for some decent bum coverage, plus it never creases!
2. Favour soft structure over stretchy everything
It’s one thing wearing a stretchy tunic, leggings and a cardi when dressing for the plane, but you don’t need to spend your whole holiday in stretchy gear to be comfortable. Try one of these soft waterfall jackets as a versatile and smart alternative. This version from Table Eight, with its lace-look is feminine and softly structured.
3. Add texture to black
Black is very practical for travel, but it doesn’t have to be plain.
This fringed kimono has a gorgeous lace pattern and velvet trim, which are highlighted when worn over white and more subtle when worn over black. Wear over a tunic and leggings with ballet flats for day, or over a little black dress and heels for night.
4. Sleeveless layers are perfect for between seasons
When you don’t need a jacket, a long line sleeveless vest adds a touch of warmth and hides a multitude of sins. It provides some flattering hip-skimming coverage and can be worn over both dresses and pants.
I’m finding this light denim version remarkably versatile.
5. Give the jeans a break
Mix it up a bit! Even in a cool climate like Sydney right now, a skirt works when worn with tights and a jumper.
Choose a dark colour and heavier fabric, like this pleather one with stud detail and pockets.
Or dresses with leggings are always a winter favourite for me!
Iconic Australian brand, Table Eight, known for its premium fabrics, quality finishes, and fine details, has got it mastered this season. From the stud detail on this skirt and black leggings, to the velvety feel of these suedette ponte pants and the kimono, and the up-to-the-minute fringing on my favourite jacket, they will have you standing out for all the right reasons.
Thank you to Table Eight for kindly gifting me with these gorgeous items.
